Hardware requirements

  1. Entry level server computer
  2. 1 GB RAM
  3. 80 GB HDD

Software requirements

  1. Windows 2003 or 2008 Standard Edition 32bit (not 64bit)
  2. Installed as a workgroup and not as part of a domain
  3. DO NOT assign any roles for the server (eg DNS or DHCP or FILE SERVER) – just deliver the server AS IT IS
  4. All service packs and updates applied (except IE7)
  5. No Anti-Virus or any other program loaded
  6. Copy the Windows CD or I386 folder to the C Drive

For single user installations:

  1. Windows XP Professional 32bit
  2. Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit
  3. Windows 7 Professional 32bit

Installation requirements

  1. Two partitions on the hard disk (C & D)

Backup requirements

  1. 3 x 1 GB USB drives for backup

Router requirements

  1. Username and password for the router / or someone who can configure port forwarding / virtual server configuration
